Hello, Seeker of Vibrant Health and a Better Life!
You're here now. Relax.
Let me guess. You're stressed. You're uptight. You hold your tension in your neck, shoulders, back, jaw, stomach, mind, heart.
You have a nagging feeling that some kind of change in your lifestyle could be helpful ... a change in diet, more exercise, maybe, but you feel overwhelmed and discouraged about where to start and what to do. Or how to stay with it.
And besides, you're busy enough as it is.
So, that adds more stress. The whole "I "should" be (exercising, taking vitamins, eating better, drinking water, meditating, journaling, speaking my truth, ______, etc) thing.
Caring for your health can be a joy, (should be, if I'm allowed to throw one 'should' in there) as natural as breathing, and not have to feel like one more thing you're beating yourself up about not doing.
My suggestion?
Give yourself a break. Let yourself off the hook. As long as you're here, on my site, you have my permission to let that stuff go for a minute.
Who am I?
Hi, I'm Gina Loree Marks. I'm a shiatsu practitioner.
Shee -what -zoo?
Shiatsu (say it with me .... shee - ah ' -tzoo) is a Japanese word literally translated to mean "finger pressure".
It's is a form of bodywork (or energy work, depending on how you look at it) that uses finger and thumb pressure (or knees, elbows, forearms, feet), as well as stretching, rocking and holding, to bring about a more balanced energy flow in the receiver's body.
Many people who receive shiatsu experience a deep and profound sense of relaxation, relief from common ailments such as stress, headaches, bodily aches and pain, repetitive strain injuries, digestive and respiratory issues, insomnia, high blood pressure and feelings of overwhelm.
More profound benefits can be a renewed sense of groundedness, centeredness, increased ability to deal with stress, and overall, a greater awareness of your own physical body. This is a good thing in that it can help to bring clear awareness to the connections between how you live and how you feel. With this awareness comes increased motivation and energy to make other healthy life choices.
There's a lot more to it than that which you can read about here and on my blog, but the bottom line is that shiatsu, like most bodywork, is a form of communication.
To me, shiatsu is also a way of living that emphasizes making connections, encouraging flow, seeking balance, living from center, and communicating on a heart level.
For this reason, you can also benefit from shiatsu without even coming into my office!
I'm the process of creating some fantabulous freebie through which you can start to get a sense of how shiatsu can transform your life, but until then, I invite you to download the self-shiatsu guide, and check out these posts I wrote.
