I ask people to come to their session wearing (or bringing) loose-fitting comfortable clothing, preferably cotton. Cotton allows for better energy circulation, but more importantly is to be wearing clothes that you can move in, and be palpated though. For example, denim or clothing with tight waistbands would be discouraged.

Also, I ask people to refrain from eating at least an hour before the session, as it will be more comfortable if I do the abdominal massage :), and the senses and nervous system are a bit more primed, allowing for greater awareness of how the shiatsu is affecting the body.

Lastly, I ask that people refrain from wearing strongly scented perfume, oils, or cologne, as people with chemical sensitivities frequent the Holistic Center, and it also can interfere my perception.
