Bi-weekly e-zine with shiatsu-related wisdom, tips, events, stuff I think you might enjoy!

Hi!

I'm Gina Loree' Marks, and if you hadn't guessed, I'm a shiatsu practitioner. (Huh? Shiatsu? = click here)

The 'purveyor of grace' subhead above is maybe a bit presumptuous. But see my philosophy, for where I get off referring to myself as that.

My superpower is helping my clients develop an awareness of the connection between the physical issues they bring to my office (or website) and their mental/emotional states, ideally with the result of releasing them.

What else?

Well, I'm an AOBTA certified graduate of the International School of Shiatsu in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. I've been practicing shiatsu in Chester County, PA for the last three and a half years. ('wow, that long already?' my husband interjects) My backstory is a long sordid tale involving art school, macrobiotics, homeschooling, Greenpeace, hip hop, Grateful Dead tour, and Quakers. You can read more of that exciting drama and intrigue here.

What's my angle?

My approach comes out of a tendency to view human life experience through a shiatsu lens.. to see and be able to describe the mirroring of emotional/mental states in their physical expressions. To see that how we feel affects how we view the world, and how we view the world affects the way we carry ourselves and interact with Life.

My style is most closely aligned with the Zen style of shiatsu.

My secondary (but, alas, unpaid) profession of personal self-development also guides and informs the work my clients and I do together -  giving me more tools, a broader perspective and a greater vocabulary to operate from, particularly in the way of the mind/body connection.

See the right sidebar for a partial list of influences, and my bookstore for even more.

Who are my clients? What kinds of people seek out my services? And would this be you?

I would LOVE working with you (and I think the feeling would be mutual) if you possess some degree of awareness (or even suspicion) that your physical challenges have emotional roots (and vice versa). You are seeking holistic support or solutions for aches and pains, fatigue, anxiety, stress, depression, fibromyalgia, loss of centered-ness, hormonal imbalances and more. Perhaps you are or have been in a caretaking role (parent, child, psychologist, therapist, 'nurturer' of any sort) and are looking to now focus on your own well-being, regain your power and resume centrality in your own life.

What's next for me? What's the big picture?

For my in-office clients, I'm continually developing my hands-on skills to better assist them in releasing the patterns that no longer serve them. I am also expanding the function of my website to reach those beyond my physical location to include not only the blog, but bigger and better newletters, ebooks and other resources that resonate with this intention.

And in my spare time, I'm fleshing out plans for workshops and courses to give you the tools for self-care so you can be your most awesome, powerful and bad selves.

(Thank you to Sonia Simone for the 'inspiration' (aka:plagiarism) for this "About" style..)
